About Alicia Patterson

Hi, I'm Alicia! If therapy were a playlist, mine would have a little bit of everything—classic hits, deep cuts, and the occasional unexpected track that somehow just works. I’ve trained in Somatic Psychotherapy, Dance Movement Therapy, EMDR, Holistic Pelvic Care, Prenatal Psychology, Attachment Theory, Family Systems, Sex Therapy (AASECT), PET-C (that’s Practical & Experiential Therapy for Couples—not to be confused with actual pets, though I love those too), Gestalt, Existential Therapy, Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy, DBT, ACT, Solution Focused Therapy, and more. Basically, if it helps people, I’ve probably studied it, practiced it, and found a way to bring it into session.

I love blending science with humanity: from brainspotting and polyvagal theory to yoga, meditation, and holistic health coaching. My approach is integrative, meaning I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. You bring your story, your goals, and your truth; I bring nearly two decades of experience and a toolbox that could rival a hardware store. Together, we’ll figure out what works best for you.

My passion for women’s health led me into working with couples and families, where I’ve found joy in helping people strengthen their connections—whether it’s navigating parenting, untangling relationship knots, or re-discovering what made you choose each other in the first place. I also love working with women at different life stages, honoring the unique challenges of living in a female body (and the fact that modern healthcare doesn’t always do a great job of it).

Clients describe me as direct but warm, supportive without being fluffy, and efficient while still deeply compassionate. My goal is that you walk away from every session feeling both lighter and more equipped—with practical tools in your hand and a deeper connection to yourself in your heart.

Outside the office, I’ve taught yoga and meditation, completed a health coaching program, and remain a lifelong learner (forever chasing new trainings, theories, and ways to support my clients). Raised near Washington D.C., I’ve worked with people from all over the country and world, which keeps me grounded in cultural humility and respect for every client’s lived experience.

At the end of the day, therapy with me is about collaboration. I’m not here to “fix” you (because you’re not broken). I’m here to walk alongside you, challenge you when needed, celebrate your wins, and help you build the kind of life and relationships that feel stabilizing in a chaotic world.

So if you’re looking for comfort, humor, accountability, and maybe even the occasional “aha!” moment—you’ve found your therapist.

I can't wait to work with you.
