About Kaylie Midcap

Hi, I’m Kalie!

I’m a licensed counselor who believes therapy should feel like a soft landing—not a spotlight interrogation. My clients often describe me as calm, intuitive, and a little bit creative (okay, sometimes very creative), and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My approach is rooted in whole-person care, blending evidence-based practices like CBT and mindfulness with expressive arts, narrative therapy, somatic awareness, and nature-based metaphor. Basically: if you feel talk therapy needs a little more spark, I’ve got you covered. We might journal, breathe, visualize, get curious about boundaries, or create tiny but powerful lifestyle shifts that bring emotional balance back into your life.

Even in virtual sessions, I bring a tactile, grounding vibe—with curated welcome boxes that include journaling tools, mindfulness prompts, and other little surprises to support you between sessions. Therapy should feel like something, not just sound like something—and I try to bring that energy into everything we do.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a snowboard instructor mentoring youth on courage and compassion, I taught English in China, supported foster youth, and built counseling programs for schools. I’ve also worked closely with Native American communities—including Southern Ute and Navajo—as well as Hispanic youth and families. That rich cultural background continues to shape how I connect with each client: with respect, warmth, and a deep appreciation for their story.

When I’m not in session, you’ll find me hiking with my dog, cooking cozy meals, or reading by the river (aka my natural habitat).

Clients tend to work with me because they’re looking for more than a checkbox therapist. They want someone who can hold the hard stuff and the hopeful stuff, someone who gets that healing isn’t linear—and who will genuinely meet them where they are, without judgment or pressure.

If you’re looking for therapy that’s creative, calming, deeply supportive, and occasionally full of metaphor—you’ve found your person.
